The Anchorage
The Anchorage is located on the West High Street in Forfar. it seeks to provide a safe space for all souls in our community in Forfar. We have a range of groups who meet weekly, and provide an inclusive ‘warm space’ for folks to meet, chat, work or relax in a warm, welcoming open lounge.
MORNINGS
WARM SPACE EACH WEEKDAY MORNING
We are now open Monday to Friday from 9.30am -12.30pm [open til 1pm on Mondays] for our “Warm Spaces” time. This means you, and anyone else, can drop in and enjoy a cuppie, some company and a warm space to sit, to work, to chat or to read.
MENS FELLOWSHIP
The All Souls Men’s Fellowship group now meets at the Anchorage each month for a get together with tea/coffee, chat and then a speaker. They meet on the 3rd Monday of the month at 10am. Ask inside for details of the next meeting.
ALL SOULS TOTS
Our tots group for babies and toddlers meets each Tuesday and Thursday 9.30am – 11.30am. It is the same group that meets at Lowson on Monday, Wednesday and Friday but with a focus on quiet play, crafts and socialising.
WEDNESDAY WORSHIP
We offer a short, seated church service each Wednesday morning at 10.30am followed by refreshments. Worship is led by a small team who take turns to lead each week. Everyone is welcome to come along and join us.
AFTERNOONS
COSY CUPPIES
A get together time each Monday afternoon for older folks 1.30 – 3.30pm with dominoes, cards and games; and most of all – good company, warming cuppies and conversations for everyone.
CRAFTS AND COMPANY GROUP
On a Wednesday afternoon from 1pm – 3pm we have “Crafts, colouring, cuppies and company” – a safe space for those who want to come along to craft together or just enjoy a bit of company.
BOARD GAMES AFTERNOON
We hold a board games afternoon on the first Sunday of the month from 1.30pm – 3pm. There are lots of options of games to play from old favourites like snakes and ladders and dominoes to longer games and card games.
EVENINGS
SPECTRUM CHOIR
Our community ladies choir meets each Monday evening from 7.30 – 9pm to enjoy singing together, good company and prepare small concerts for church and social events.
UNDER 40s GROUP
Meeting on Tuesday evenings at 7pm once a month to support, encourage and empower those who are under 40.
OTHER
STOMA SUPPORT GROUP
A group for those who live with stomas and their carers, friends and family is held on the first Wednesday of each month 2pm – 4pm.
U3A
U3A run a singing group on 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month 2-4pm and a Knitting and Crochet group on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of the month 2-4pm.
HILLCREST FUTURES HARM REDUCTION TEAM
A member of the Hillcrest Team is available every Monday morning at Warm Spaces for advice, support and help.
School Uniform Project
Our School Uniform shop is open every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10m til 12noon to give away FREE school uniforms, PE kits and coats.Donations can be left at the ‘drop box’ outside Ten57 at the Myre. Uniform packs can be made up on request at any time for collection in person or anon. mhunt@churchofscotland.org.uk
